WEYBURN – The Gladmar Braves were crowned the 2022 Borderline Men’s Fastball League at the championship tournament held over the weekend in Ogema.
They defeated the host Ogema Colts in the championship game after advancing to the final with wins over the Weyburn Renegades and the Ceylon Angels.
Mike Floer, shortstop for the Braves, was named the tournament MVP, winning the George Howard Memorial Golden Glove Award, and Travis Leonard of the Colts was named the tournament’s top pitcher, receiving the Roger Storle Memorial Trophy.
Leonard also received the Maverick David Paul Duffy trophy as the most sportsmanlike player for the 2022 season as voted on by the teams in the league.
The Ceylon Angels were presented with the BMFL Pennant trophy for finishing in first place in the league standings during the regular season.
This season marked the league’s 59th consecutive year of competition of the Borderline Men’s Fastball League, and the league wished to pass on thanks to the many fans who have supported the league through all of those years.
The Braves lineup included Colin Tessier, Josh Woitas, Josh Hlavka, Ryder Tessier, John Hlavka, Ethan Woitas, Isaac Woitas, Joseph Woitas, Brad Heard, Mike Floer, Jace Woitas, Dawson Fladeland, Rylan Fladeland, Dane Tessier, Eric Fettes, Gavin Doud and Kyle Perras.
