Gold Wings win in OT

The Southern Range Gold Wings took the first game of the second playoff round against the Prince Albert Bears March 11 at Crescent Point Place in a 2-1 overtime win.

The Southern Range Gold Wings took the first game of the second playoff round against the Prince Albert Bears March 11 at Crescent Point Place in a 2-1 overtime win.

The Bears started the scoring in the first period, and after a scoreless second period,Kassidy Sjostrand was able to tie the game at one in the third period sending the game into overtime.

Caitlin Dempsey and Madison Colbow got the assists.

At 7:38 of the overtime period, Dempsey was able to fire a shot past the Prince Albert goalie for the win.

Weyburn goalie Jane Kish stopped 40 shots in the first game.

The Southern Range Gold Wings are set for Game 2 on Saturday, March 15 in Prince Albert and back to Weyburn for Game 3 at Crescent Point Place on Sunday, March 16. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m.
