Professional Golf Association Tour golfer Graham DeLaet, a former Weyburn local, helped Golf Saskatchewan and the PGA of Saskatchewan announce their Golf Day in Saskatchewan.

The kick off to Golf Day was held in Saskatoon on June 5. The actual Golf Day will be held on Tuesday, June 26 at golf courses across Saskatchewan.

The main focus of the 2012 Golf Day in Saskatchewan will be junior golf programs in the province. Money will be raised for junior golf through teach-a-thons by PGA professionals in various communities, special tournaments for players of all ages, and fundraisers at local courses.

DeLaet will be involved in Golf Day through the "Join Graham and Give Junior Golf a Hand" program. At a number of courses in Saskatchewan, golfers will be able to make a $2 donation to the program through the purchase of a paper hand to be displayed in the pro shop.

"I am very excited to be involved with Golf Day in Saskatchewan and what is being done to grow junior golf in the province," said DeLaet. "I look at the opportunities that were available to me growing up and how I benefited and I hope to see more and more kids involved in golf in Saskatchewan."
