Graham DeLaet ties for 55th at Scottish tourney

Weyburn native PGA player Graham DeLaet ended up with a -7 overall score which left him tied for 55th place at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, held in the birthplace of golf, in Scotland.
This gave him a purse of 11,481 euros, or $14,493 in Canadian dollars. There was a field of 168 golfers, and the cut was set at 70th place.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is part of the European Tour. The tournament was held in Scotland on Oct. 4 to 7, with DeLaet competing on three different courses, the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
DeLaet started on the Carnoustie course for his first round. He had back-to-back birdies on holes four and five in the front nine. Then for the back nine, shot bogeys on holes 11 and 17, and another birdie on hole 13.
The first round score for DeLaet was 71, one-under-par.

Competing on the Kingsbarns course for round two, DeLaet scored a bogey on hole one, a birdie on hole two and a bogey on hole three. He was able to capture three back-to-back birdies on holes five, six and seven, then another birdie on hole nine.

During the back nine, he shot only pars for the course. DeLaet had a final score of 69 for round two, three under par.

In round 3, at St. Andrew's, DeLaet scored 35 and 34 for a total of 69 or three under par; this included three birdies and two bogies on the front nine, and an eagle, a birdie and a bogie on the back nine.
For his fourth round, also at St. Andrew's, DeLaet shot a 33 then a 39 for a total of 72 or par on the day. For the front nine, he notched three birdies and the rest par, and on the back nine he hit two bogies, a double-bogie and a birdie to finish with 39.

DeLaet's fall schedule was not available by publication deadlines for the Review.

For the Professional Golf Association Tour, DeLaet is sitting 53rd on the FedExCup standings. DeLaet needed to be in the top 125 to retain his PGA Tour Card for another year. His Official World Golf Ranking is 157.
