Hunting down trophies

The Weyburn Wildlife Federation held its annual Fred Garner Memorial Banquet and Trophy night on March 16 at McKenna Hall. In the Fish category, for best Northern Pike at 6.2 pounds the winner was Nathan Wlasichuk, for best Walleye at 3.

The Weyburn Wildlife Federation held its annual Fred Garner Memorial Banquet and Trophy night on March 16 at McKenna Hall.


In the Fish category, for best Northern Pike at 6.2 pounds the winner was Nathan Wlasichuk, for best Walleye at 3.79 pounds the winner was Darryl Seitz, for best Perch at 1.61 pounds the winner was Les Neovard.


In the Birds category, best Pheasant was a tie between Darryl Mutrie and Kevin Paslawski at 40 bars. Best Goose went to Bob Milligan for 10 pounds 11 ounces.


In the Whitetail Deer category, Taylor Evans won for best Typical Buck at 132 1/8 pounds and best Junior Whitetail Buck at 132 1/8 pounds. Best Non-Typical Buck went to Julian Goski at 138 0/8 pounds as well as heaviest Whitetail at 182 pounds.


In the Mule Deer category, best Typical Buck went to Bob Cooper at 171 and 3/8 pounds. Best Non-Typical Buck went to Jory Ashworth for 175 and 6/8 pounds. Buck taken by Archery went to Russ Dennis at 141 and 0/8 pounds.


In the Elk category, Donald Holinaty won for 265 and 1/8 pounds.


In the Moose category, Austin Johnston won for 129 and 4/8 pounds.


In the Bear category, Jeremy Murray won for 17 and 1/16 pounds.


In the grand Slam there was a tie between Tyson Calladine and George Kiraly - each for a bull elk, whitetail buck and mule deer doe.


In the Best Big Game Animal Taken by a Woman category, Taylor Evans won for a Typical Whitetail deer at 132 and 1/8 pounds.


In the Best Overall Big Game Animal Tkaen By Muzzleloader category, Maynard Chinski won for a Typical Mule Deer at 149 and 3/8 pounds.
