Seven qualifying members of Vilcu's Karate Klub competed in the 2012 Martial Arts Association provincial championships on Oct. 20 in Prince Albert.

The provincial tournament was held in conjunction with the Canadian Open Martial Arts Association nationals. Athletes from the Vilcu's Karate Klub won medals at both the provincial and national level.

"I am very proud of this team that competed in the provincial championships," said Sensei Harold Vilcu. "In several situations, our club students had eliminated all the other competitors and had to compete against their own teammate."

"All of the athletes have qualified to be on the Canadian team this year, that might go to Austria in the fall of 2013," added Vilcu. "As a result, they will be competing in many competitions just to keep up their competitiveness and hone their abilities to compete on the world level."
