The Weyburn Midget AA Petrobakken Energy Wings took their show on the road this past weekend for a pair of games in the South Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League. The Wings entered the weekend with a record of 4-1, and made stops in White City and Yorkton over the weekend.

First up was the Balgonie Prairie Storm on Saturday. Weyburn had the only goal of the first period as Cole Sjostrand fired a puck at the Prairie Storm net with just :02 left in the period. The goaltender could not make the stop and the Wings took a 1-0 lead into the first break. Assisting on Weyburn's first goal was Kyle Mryglod and Jacob Eger.

Weyburn made the lead 2-0 as Braden Mellon found the back of the net from Tucker Neuberger and Daniel Fellner. Balgonie would answer with a goal of their own at the mid-point of the second and Weyburn took a 2-1 lead into the third period.

The Wings would again take a two goal lead as this time on the power play a point shot right on net by Kendall Oliver was buried by Neuberger. The Prairie Storm kept things interesting in a very close game but the Wings were able to leave White City with a 3-2 win. Dylan Hockley got the win in goal for Weyburn.

On Sunday afternoon, the team was in Yorkton to play the AA Kinsmen Terriers. Weyburn came flying out of the gate in the first period burying five pucks past two Terrier netminders. Jack Carleton got things going for Weyburn at the 17:48 mark and the Wings never looked back. Also scoring for Weyburn in the first period was Neuberger (Mellon), Braden Rood (unassisted), Cody Robertson (Carleton, Mryglod) and Mryglod (Mellon). Yorkton got one of their own in the period but Weyburn took the 5-1 lead into the first intermission.

The Terriers added two more early in the second to pull within two at 5-3, but the Wings would add a second period goal of the own as a bullet wrist shot from Kolten Cleasby beat the Terrier goalie over his glove hand. Josh Ferris drew the only helper and Weyburn took a 6-3 lead into the second break.

Yorkton managed the only goals of the third period to make the game interesting but Weyburn was able to add another to the win column as they left Yorkton with a 6-5 victory. Terrick Wilderman picked up the win in goal for the midget Wings, who saw their record go to 6-1.

The next action for the Midget AA Wings will be this coming weekend as they will be in Swift Current on Saturday, November 3 to battle the defending league champions. On Sunday Weyburn will be back on their home ice at Crescent Point Place as Swift Current will be in town to complete the home and home. Game time will be 7:30 p.m. on November 4.
