The Weyburn Curling Club will be hosting the 2014 Saskatchewan Masters Curling Championship from Wednesday, February 26 to Sunday, March 2.
This competition is for curlers who are 60 years of age or older. There will be 12 teams vying for the men's title and six competing for the ladies' championship.
The first draw is at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, followed by the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Depending on tie breaking matches, the finals will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.
If one or more tie breakers are required, the schedule for semi finals and finals will be adjusted accordingly.
The winners of this provincial championship will go on to represent Saskatchewan at the national championship in Coaldale, Alberta, beginning Monday, March 31.
The following six ladies teams will be in attendance: Crystal Frisk, Delores Syrota, Pat Bibby, Lee Morrison, Liane McLean and Merle Kopach.
At this time only 10 of the 12 men's teams are known. They include 2009 World Senior Men's champion and two time Saskatchewan Tankard champion, Eugene Hritzuk, south east region winner, Garry Kreutzer of Osage, Jim Currie and Phil England, who are former Weyburn curlers as well as Mel Mylrea, Iggy Baranieski, Ed Bitz, Al Kehler, Ron Cripps and Rick Graham.
The daily admission price of $10 includes 15 entries into each day's 50-50 draw.
On Friday, February 28, the Don Turner Curling Museum will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
