Weyburn gymnast wins provincial title

Sarah Van De Sype, member of the Weyburn Gymnastics Club, captured the provincial title in the P2 Open category at the Saskatchewan Gymnastics Championships held in Yorkton on April 21, 2012.

Sarah Van De Sype, member of the Weyburn Gymnastics Club, captured the provincial title in the P2 Open category at the Saskatchewan Gymnastics Championships held in Yorkton on April 21, 2012. In addition to capturing gold all around, she received the gold medal on beam, and silver medals on bars and floor. There were a total of seven girls competing for this provincial title.

The girls compete in four disciplines: vault, uneven bars, beam and floor. Following are the provincial results of the Weyburn Gymnastics Club which were held on April 20th and 21st in Yorkton.

In the P4 Open for 14 and over, Chelsey Erickson took the bronze medal for Vault, the silver for Bars, the gold for Beam, the gold for Floor and the silver All around. Ashley Bell place fourth All around.

In the P3 Open for 13 and over, Taylor Elmy won the silver for Bars and placed 8th All around. McKenzie Winter placed 10th All around.

In the P3 Tyro for 11 and 12 year old competitors, Carley Evans won bronze for Vault and placed 6th All around.

In the P2 Open for 13 and over, Sarah Van De Sype won the silver for Bars, the gold for Beam, the silver for Floor and she won the gold medal All around, making her the Provincial Champion.

In the P1 Tyro for 10 and 11 year old gymnasts, Payton Werewka placed 12th All around and Cassidy Roy placed 10th All around.

In the P1 Argo group for 9 year olds, Blayke Walbaum placed silver for Bars and 7th All around, tying with Rumina Edgerton, who also placed 7th All around.
