Members of the Weyburn Gymnastics Club qualified for Provincials for the 2013 season. The competitive girls train nine hours a week from September through June and work hard to earn a spot to compete at provincials at the end of April. Provincials were held in Lloydminster on April 20 and 21. Twelve out of the fifteen girls from Weyburn's competitive program qualified for provincials and brought home 13 medals.
Competing in the 9 and 10-year-old provincial one category were Taylor Wolter, Madison Renner and Aurelie Bouchard. They competed against 22 gymnasts and finished ninth, 18th and 20th respectively. Wolter brought home the gold medal on bars and the bronze medal on vault.
Rumina Edgerton and Elise Colbow competed in the 11 and 12-year-old provincial one category against 11 gymnasts and placed seventh and 10th respectively.
In the provincial 2 level, Emily Williams, Blayke Walbaum and Cassidy Roy qualified for provincials. Emily competed in the 9 and 10-year-old age category against five competitors and placed third all around. Williams also took home the gold medal on vault, bars and floor.
Blayke competed in the 11 and 12-year-old age category against 16 competitors and placed second overall. Blayke also took home the bronze medal on bars and floor. Cassidy competed in the 13 and older age category against 11 other competitors and placed ninth all around.
McKenzie Winter and Taylor Elmy competed in the provincial 3 level. Winter competed in the 14 and 15-year-old age category against 11 competitors and placed 11th all around. Elmy competed in the 16 and older age category against seven competitors and placed fourth all around. Elmy took home the gold medal on bars.
Carley Evans competed in the provincial 4 level. Evans competed in the 13 and 14-year-old age category against six competitors and placed fourth all around. Evans took home gold on floor, silver on beam and bronze on vault.
