Estevan Minor Baseball will host three Baseball Sask. provincial competitions from July 15-17 at Mel Murray Cactus Park. The U11 division will feature games in both the AA and A divisions, while the U15 division will have its AA provincials here.

Estevan was well represented in the softball league this year. Out of the seven teams that entered the league, three were from Estevan.

Ernie Weimer will be inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame in a ceremony Saturday, Aug. 20 in Battleford.

The coaches were proud of the players the way they re-focused after the first game loss to win four straight, by playing “Wild softball” to claim the title.

Basketball Saskatchewan hosted a three-on-three basketball tournament on June 18 at the University of Regina. Two teams representing Estevan in 13U and 15U divisions partook in the event.

Jayden Baker, a graduating player from the Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings, played four years (2018-2022), skating in 97 games.

“Public swimming has started as has aquacise and moms and tots.  Formal lessons have begun and the first of five sets of swimming lessons are underway.

Local women had their chance to showcase their golfing acumen during the McGillicky Oilfield Senior Ladies' Golf Tournament at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course.

Students cheered each other on, while teachers or a parent would demonstrate how the event worked, if a student needed help. After all, it was to be a fun day.

Fichter, who is graduating from the Estevan Comprehensive School, has committed to play baseball for the Okanagan College Coyotes in Kelowna, B.C., starting next season.
