A talented young softball player from southeast Saskatchewan has committed to play at a higher level for the 2021-22 school year. Morgan Walter, a centrefielder and middle infielder, will play for the McCook Community College Indians in McCook, Neb.

Fifty trap shooters from across Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. attended the 100th annual Saskatchewan Provincial Trapshooting Championships, held in Swift Current from July 7-11. Estevan was well represented.

Two Estevan athletes have secured spots on the boys 15 and under provincial basketball team. Colton Isaacs and Noah Mvula are high schoolers who are taking their basketball career to the next level.

The Estevan Motor Speedway had plenty of reasons to be excited this past weekend. First, it was their late model doubleheader weekend, with drivers coming from throughout the Prairie provinces to race the powerful cars.

The annual Viking Cup golf tournament went in July 2005 at the Woodlawn Golf Club. The defending champions from the south retained the cup after battling the north to a 12-12 tie; the reigning champions won on the tie-breaker.

The Southeast A’s U15 AAA baseball team split games on Saturday against the White Butte Broncos, winning 8-3 but losing 17-5. Both games were played in Alameda.

The annual rodeo in Arcola, which was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, will be returning this summer on Aug. 13. The event will take place at the arena — which is across from Arcola Prairie Place Complex—and it will start at 6:30 p.m.
