It’s true in any sport, but tournament hockey shows that it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. And the Estevan peewee Thunder now know that lesson well after a recent tournament victory in Oxbow.

The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs senior boys and girls volleyball teams came up short this past weekend in their quest to qualify for their respective 5A provincial tournaments.

Lampman’s Nigel Dube has been named the new head coach and general manager of the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Dube, 30, is the 25th head coach in the Bobcats’ history.

The Estevan TS&M bantam AA Bruins won both of their games on the weekend in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League, thanks to some timely scoring, some good defensive play and excellent goaltending from Joshua Bittman.

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins closed out their three-game road trip with a 3-2 loss in Humboldt against the Broncos on Sunday afternoon. Derek Patter opened the scoring 3:13 into the first period to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.

A three-goal first period was enough offence for the Kindersley Klippers to get the win, as they defeated the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins 3-2 on Saturday night in Kindersley.
