The inaugural Brain Bucket Benefit Barrel Racing attracted large crowds and offered some good competition, but it was more than just sport. The event was held at the Estevan Exhibition’s rodeo arena on Saturday and Sunday.

The Alameda Fishing Derby was once again a popular event, as 244 adults and 48 youths entered the 22nd annual competition June 30 on Grant Devine Lake.

The Estevan KPC mosquito AAA Sluggers appear to be peaking at the right time. The Sluggers wrapped up the regular season with a sweep in a doubleheader against the Lumsden Cubs, winning 8-4 and 12-8.

The Estevan TS&M peewee Tornadoes had a tough weekend at home in Regina Baseball action. The Tornadoes dropped all four games they played during the weekend.

The field for the 2018 Home Hardware Canada Cup curling event is nearly complete. The competition will take place on Dec. 5 to 9 at Affinity Place.

A member of the Estevan Sharks water polo club has been recognized for his success in the pool during the past season.

Estevan was well=represented at the 2018 Canadian Trapshooting Championships, hosted in Brandon, Man., from June 27 to July 1. Local shooters came home with a number of championships. Sam Meek is the sub-junior doubles champion.

The biggest event of the year for the Estevan Motor Speedway (EMS) is only a few days away. The Dakota Classic Modified Tour will take place on Monday night at 7 p.m.

Another graduating member of the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins has finalized his plans for next season.

The top young lacrosse players in the province will be in Estevan from Friday to Sunday for Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association provincials in the peewee, bantam and midget age groups.
