The 2017 edition of Golf Kenosee's Ladies Golf Tournament was a tinseltown tee-off, as 140 golfers competed for prizes on and off the course at the “Night at the Oscars”-themed event, Saturday, Aug. 12 in Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

Apex Volleyball Academy hosted a volleyball camp in Arcola on Saturday, Aug. 19, and Sunday, Aug. 20, where 43 camp goers participated from grade 7-12 in different sessions focused on a variety of skills.

The success of the second annual Cutting Horse Show at the Estevan Exhibition Ground helps to emphasize the importance of word of mouth. The show, which is put on by the Saskatchewan Cutting Horse Association, took place Aug.

Chris Lewgood exited the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins’ summer hockey school impressed with the talent of local minor hockey players. The Bruins hosted a summer camp from Aug. 14 to 19 at Affinity Place.

The Southside Slammers are a Bantam 16UA Provincial Girls Softball team that was formed in January 2017 with players from Estevan, Weyburn, Oxbow, Alameda, Arcola and Balgonie.

The Saskatchewan High School Rodeo season kicked off at the rodeo grounds at Wood Mountain Regional Park on August 19-20.

Hockey season is right around the corner for the Weyburn Red Wings, as their fall camp is scheduled for the Labour Day long weekend in September. Camp will open with registration in Crescent Point Place lobby on Saturday, September 2 at 9 a.m.

The Southside Slammers recently returned from competing in nationals, held in Delta, B.C. from August 8 to 13. The Slammers were ranked the number two-seeded team from Saskatchewan.

It was a busy summer for the Weyburn and District Canoe and Kayak Club. Their recreational and competitive programs were under the direction of head coach Drew Barsness.
