Bison win second round playoff

The North Dakota State Bison beat the San Diego Toreros 45-7 in the second round of their NCAA football playoffs. The Bison had the lead in the game from start to finish.

Quarterback Easton Stick attempted 20 passes while completing 12 for 208 yards and three touchdowns. North Dakota State will now face the South Dakota State Jack Rabbits in the quarterfinals.

In NCAA football, the No. 20 Florida Gators lost 54-16 to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the South Eastern Conference championship game. The Gators will play the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl.

Scores from NCAA Championship Saturday were: the Temple Owls beat the Navy Midshipmen 34-17, the Penn Sate Nittany Lions got past the Wisconsin Badgers 38-31, and it was the Clemson Tigers over the Virginia Tech Hokies 42-35.

In the NFL, the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams 26-10 in a one-sided game. The Pats record is 10-2 and their next game is against Baltimore Ravens.

Other scores from Week 13 were: the Seattle Seahawks hammered the Carolina Panthers 40-7, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got past the San Diego Chargers 28-21 and the Green Bay Packers beat the Houston Texans 21-13.

In Major League Soccer, Toronto FC beat the Montreal Impact 5-2 in extra time and 7-5 on aggregate in the Eastern Conference Final. This is Toronto’s first conference championship in franchise history. They will now face the Seattle Sounders in the MLS Cup final.

As for the Western Hockey League, the Regina Pats won both of their games over the weekend.  The Pats hammered the Prince Albert Raiders 12-2 on Saturday then they beat the Swift Current Broncos 6-3 on Sunday.
