Canada wins Women’s Worlds

Team Canada, skipped by Rachel Homan, won the Women’s World Curling Championship. Homan beat Team Russia, skipped by Anna Sidorova, 8-3 in the final. Rachel Homan has won every kind of medal at the worlds, first bronze, then silver and now gold.

Rachel Homan has won every kind of medal at the worlds, first bronze, then silver and now gold.  Canada finished the round robin undefeated for the first time, then won the page playoff game between the top two teams against Russia. Canada hadn’t won the women’s worlds since Jennifer Jones took the title in 2008.

In NASCAR, Kyle Larson won the Auto Club 400, finishing ahead of Brad Keselowski. Kevin Harvick started the race in fourth place and finished in 13th place. The next race is the STP 500.

The Los Angeles Clippers lost 98-97 to the Sacramento Kings in a close NBA game recently. The Clippers are in fifth place in the Western Conference, but have clinched a playoff spot.

In NCAA Baseball, the No. 9 Florida Gators took two of three games from the Louisiana State University Tigers on the weekend. The Gators are in fifth place in the South Eastern Conference’s East Division.

In NFL news, the NFL owners have approved the relocation of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas. The Raiders are scheduled to move to Las Vegas after the 2019 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays split their games on the weekend in Major League Baseball spring training action. The Blue Jays are close to last place in the Grapefruit League.

In the NHL, the Ottawa Senators lost to the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 in a one-sided game. The Senators are in second place in the Atlantic Division.

As for the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign beat the San Antonio Rampage twice at home. The Reign are in sixth place in the Western Conference.
