Cheers and Jeers for Dec. 1

Cheers: Cheers to the organizers of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation’s Festival of Trees. It provided three days of great events that created lots of Christmas cheer. Cheers to the Estevan Humane Society for holding the Whiskers and Wine Gala.

Cheers to the organizers of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation’s Festival of Trees. It provided three days of great events that created lots of Christmas cheer.

Cheers to the Estevan Humane Society for holding the Whiskers and Wine Gala. It was a great night with wonderful entertainment and beautiful local art.

Cheers to all of those who have signed up to volunteer with the Estevan Angel Tree program, allowing it to be open for a few more days.

Cheers to the Estevan Fire Rescue Service on moving into its new home at the former Murray GM building. The fire department deserves to have a suitable building.

Cheers to the people from the community who spoke at Mary's Little Lambs Preschool during the community helpers month activities in November. They took time out of their busy schedules to talk to the four-year-olds about what they do.

Jeers:

Jeers to the people who are offended by the two gay characters in the Estevan Comprehensive School’s musical, School of Rock. All this does is strike fear into everyone who is scared to come out.

Jeers to renaming of Alameda Dam after former premier Grant Devine. Who in their right mind would name anything in this province after Devine? Let the people decide the name change.

Jeers to the trucks in town that have really loud exhausts. If you live along one of the arterial roads in the city, it’s really annoying to have all the loud trucks pass by.

Jeers to the people who were caught distracted driving last month as part of SGI’s crackdown. If anything, it’s surprising that more people weren’t caught.

Jeers to whoever left drug paraphernalia on a local school property. It’s a good thing it was found and destroyed.
