DW-Cheers and Jeers

Cheers:

Cheers to the organizers of the Moonlight Madness event. There was lots of variety and interesting stuff in the downtown stores.

Cheers to those involved with Christmas in the Park at Woodlawn Regional Park, particularly those who participated in the parade and the sleigh rides despite the cold weather.

Cheers to having university students travel safely home to be with families for the holidays. It’s great to see them.

Cheers to the staff of local businesses for being so friendly and helpful earlier this month. There were lineups and crowds, but each sales/customer service person had a smile on their face, they were extra helpful and friendly and took time to serve customers.

Cheers to the staff of a local hairstyling studio, for their service during a stormy night. They provided a warm touch and even brought a hot tea.

Jeers:

Jeers to a small appliance repair business for their recent behaviour towards a new customer. It’s not the type of conduct that would generate repeat business.

Jeers with those who are taking a “Bah Humbug” attitude towards Christmas. Save your sour grapes for some other time of year.

Jeers to those who favour the politically correct expressions like “Seasons Greetings” or “Happy Holidays.” Hopefully they have a “Merry Christmas” and a “Happy New Year.”

Jeers to those who were complaining about the traffic in downtown Estevan, the mall and other areas of the city this past weekend. It’s the busiest shopping weekend of the year. Hopefully the traffic is a sign that people are shopping locally.

Jeers to all the able-bodied people out there who have failed to clear their sidewalks, more than two weeks after the blizzard. Remember that there are people who have to walk who deserve clean sidewalks.
