Cheers and Jeers for July 29

Cheers: Cheers to the Saskatchewan Summer Games ambassadors who altered shirts for other ambassadors who couldn't sew. Their sewing skills were greatly appreciated.

Cheers to the Saskatchewan Summer Games ambassadors who altered shirts for other ambassadors who couldn't sew. Their sewing skills were greatly appreciated.

Cheers to everyone who was involved with the opening ceremonies for the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Estevan. It was a first-rate event and a great start to the Games.

Cheers to the Bienfait Swimming Pool. It’s too bad Estevan couldn't invest in an actual outdoor pool or have public swimming from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. everyday.

Cheers to the Estevan Lions Club for bringing disc golf to Torgeson Park in Estevan. Families really enjoy the good, clean and inexpensive fun.

Cheers to those residents of Estevan who take care of their lawns and gardens. Keep up the good work.

Jeers:

Jeers to everyone who speeds down Wellock Road between Nicholson Road and the cemetery road. They seem to forget the speed limit is 30 kilometres per hour.

Jeers to ripping up a perfectly good walking path in Royal Heights Park and keeping the park closed for half the summer for construction. It was supposed to be finished in the third week of June.

Jeers to the motorists who insisted on speeding down 13th Avenue and other roads in the city that had increased traffic due to the detour for the Summer Games triathlon. Please try driving according to the situation.

Jeers to those who refuse to park between the stall lines in parking lots. You are not entitled to occupy two parking spots at once.

Jeers to those who take winning too seriously in youth sports. With the Saskatchewan Summer Games in town, it’s a good reminder that there are more important things for kids than winning.
