Cheers and Jeers for March 10

Cheers: Cheers to the four Good Samaritans who dug a motorist out of a snowbank on Spruce Drive on Tuesday. Thank you to Keaton Tarnes, Bailey Gaignard, Courtney Gress and a woman with a white truck and a tow rope. May the good you do return to you.

Cheers to the snow clearing crews who have been working tirelessly since the latest blizzard hit the city. It likely wasn’t easy to be out working in those conditions.

Cheers to those who opened up their homes and businesses to people who were stranded by the blizzard.

Cheers to all of the donors, sponsors and supporters of the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs senior girls basketball team’s Shoot for a Cure tournament. Great to see so much money raised, and to see the Elecs come out on top.

Cheers to the Estevan Arts Council for bringing Chad Armstrong home to Estevan to perform. It was great to hear him sing.

Jeers:

Jeers to those who refuse to drive according to the road and weather conditions. Too many people were too aggressive during the snow storm this week.

Jeers to the non-essential drivers who were out on the roads and highways during the blizzard this week. They put themselves and other people on the roads at risk.

Jeers to the people recently arrested for the drug trade in Estevan. Good to see the police arresting those trafficking marijuana and cocaine.

Jeers to the pending closure of the credit union branch in Bienfait. There are still some people who need to have a financial institution in their community.

Jeers to those who were parked illegally at the Leisure Centre and Affinity Place during Friday night’s Power Dodge Estevan Bruins game. There’s nothing wrong with walking a block or two from your vehicle to the arena.
