Cheers to the Estevan 60 and Over Club for the cribbage games they offer for members every Thursday.

Cheers to the volunteers who helped out with a project for the United Way Estevan’s Day of Caring. They made a difference in the lives of many people.

Cheers to seeing the Pride Flag flying in front of city hall, and to all of the different activities happening in the community for Pride Week this week.

Cheers to the Westmoreland Coal Company and all of the people employed with the mining sector for all they contribute to the local economy, and their support for local non-profit organizations. Enjoy Mining Week next week.

Cheers to Southeast Newcomer Services for offering the Shrubs versus the Seedlings gardening contest at the Estevan Community Garden. Hopefully some great produce will be grown this summer.

Jeers:

Jeers to motorists who refuse to signal well in advance. Please don’t wait until just before you turn to activate your signal light. Respect the other motorists on the roads.

Jeers to the speed humps that are now in place on Wellock Road. There has to be a better way to curb speeds in that area of the city. Start with higher enforcement.

Jeers to the people who were arrested for impaired driving during the Victoria Day long weekend. Hard to believe nearly as many people were apprehended in Estevan as in Regina.

Jeers to those who think we love to their loud vehicles and motorcycles on nice spring evenings, as opposed to the people we are having a conversation with.

Jeers to the people who insisted on setting off fireworks last week. There’s a reason they’re not allowed within city limits.
