Cheers:
Cheers to the maintenance staff at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club. The course is in awesome shape for this time of year.
Cheers to the Estevan Kinsmen Club for organizing the fun ball hockey tournament at the new outdoor arena. It was a great way to spend the weekend.
Cheers to the local schools that organized Terry Fox walks this year. Since Estevan doesn’t have a community run any longer, it’s important for schools to continue to host these events.
Cheers to everyone who was involved with Football Day in Estevan. It’s great to have all four levels of football in the community on display in the same day.
Cheers to those who have volunteered with the local Habitat for Humanity committee. Their efforts are going to make a big difference for a local family.
Jeers:
Jeers to the young man who parks in front of a seniors’ complex with his music blaring and truck idling in the late evening. The exhaust smell comes in windows and people don't appreciate hearing music that is louder than the television.
Jeers to the proposed changes to small business taxes, and the impact they will have on local farmers. It’s going to be more difficult to keep farms in families from generation to generation.
Jeers to the City of Estevan’s plan to annex land from the RM of Estevan. Does the city actually need additional land at this time?
Jeers to motorists who don’t stop and wait while a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and its stop arms extended. It puts local school children at risk.
Jeers to those who allow their dogs to run loose in the community. Yes, some dogs escape and those situations can’t always be controlled. But in other cases, it comes down to negligence.
