Cheers and Jeers for Sept. 8

Cheers: Cheers to a family’s middle -aged neighbors who live life to the fullest, and who always keep that family entertained.

Cheers:

Cheers to a family’s middle -aged neighbors who live life to the fullest, and who always keep that family entertained.

Cheers to city employees who work hard every day to make Estevan a more beautiful community, especially in the summer months with the flower beds and meridians.

Cheers to the Estevan Police Service for making Estevan a safer place to live.

Cheers to the Estevan Exhibition Association for bringing the Canadian Cowboys Association Rodeo to Estevan, and for hosting other entertaining events from Sept. 1 to 3.

Cheers to the Time to Twin committee for all of their efforts over the years to get Highways 39 and 6 twinned. Hopefully those highways will have double lanes one day.

Jeers:

Jeers to a person who walks his two dogs down back lanes daily and doesn't bother to pick up the dogs’ excrement. If someone is unwilling to pick it up, keep pets in the backyard and use a nearby lane.

Jeers to the amount of garbage in the Souris River down by the golf course. Beer cans, pop cans, Styrofoam meat trays and other items could be found down there.

Jeers to truckers using engine retarder brakes on Highway 18 west as they enter the city. People don’t enjoy the noise generated by these brakes, particularly at night.

Jeers to cat owners who don't care about cat safety and comfort, but let their cats roam, looking for a soft spot to relieve themselves. This exposes the cat to the dangers of being run over, to being attacked by dogs and to being lunch for an eagle or hawk.

Jeers to pet owners who take their animals to herbal therapy and acupuncture. Humans might need the therapy, but pets do not.
