Cheers:
Cheers to the people taking part in the Estevan Parade who tossed or handed out treats to the seniors sitting by Hillview Manor. The candy was really appreciated.
Cheers to the staff at the seniors’ homes in Estevan. They provide so many little extras for the residents.
Cheers to the people who left a thank you card and a Tim Horton’s gift card in the mailbox of a local couple, because they enjoyed the flowers in the front yard.
Cheers to the Estevan Exhibition Association for having the second performance of the Estevan rodeo on an afternoon instead of the evening. It was nice to be out there at 2 p.m. instead of when it was dark.
Cheers to the local people who participated in the annual ranch rodeo on the weekend. It’s always nice when local people get to showcase their skills.
Jeers:
Jeers to whoever is responsible for mowing the ditches alongside our provincial highways. The intersections crossing the truck bypass are a disgrace. The weeds are higher than a small vehicle, making for a dangerous situation.
Jeers to the school year starting before Labour Day. It just seems pointless to go back to school for two days, and then have a long weekend.
Jeers to the people who have been speeding in the school zones now that the school year has started again. Slow down. Don’t put kids’ lives in danger.
Jeers to the possibility of speed bumps on Wellock Road. Should we be upset at the people who are driving too fast on Wellock? Or should we be angry that speed bumps might be added?
Jeers to fans blaming the Saskatchewan Roughriders loss in the Labour Day Classic on the referees. The refs might have botched a call, but it’s not their fault the Riders missed two field goals, a convert, had two interceptions and found themselves down 16-0.
