Cheers:
Cheers to the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital Unit A. A hearty thanks for the excellent care they provide.
Cheers to the people responsible for the flower mural painted on a white fence on Souris Avenue. It looks beautiful.
Cheers to all of the candidates who are running for councils or school boards in the upcoming elections. It’s not an easy to run, especially for the first time. And the job of being a reeve, mayor, councillor or school board trustee can often be thankless.
Cheers to the Rotary Club of Estevan for offering a golf ball drop in Estevan this year. It was a nice, new fundraiser in the city, and it was exciting to see who would be the cash winners.
Cheers to Bienfait’s Lynnden Pastachak. Not only is he the captain of the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins this season, but he was named the SJHL Player of the Week for the opening weekend.
Cheers to everyone involved with the Homespun Craft Show and Sale in Carlyle. For those who haven’t been there before, they’re missing out, because it truly is a great event for craft lovers.
Jeers:
Jeers to the lack of new people willing to run for school boards in recent elections. The education of our children is very important, and we need to see more people willing to be on the boards.
Jeers to people who are still speeding through school and playground zones. Now that school is back, it’s imperative to drive 30 kilometres per hour around the schools in our communities.
Jeers to the hosts of noisy parties. Turn the music down, keep the conversation relatively quiet, and let all of us enjoy our early fall evenings.
Jeers to people who complain about slow moving farm vehicles on highways. These people have a very important job to do: feeding the planet. Please pass farm vehicles without honking a horn.
Jeers to the state of some of the highways in southeast Saskatchewan. There are too many potholes and too much broken pavement on some of them. It’s important to maintain and repair all highways, not just the busy ones.
Jeers to the idea of a carbon tax. The economy is hurting enough already. We don’t need another tax to make it worse.
