Green flag drops on NASCAR season

The 2017 NASCAR season is underway with the Advance Auto Parts Clash, which was delayed to Sunday because of rain. Joey Logano finished the race ahead of Kyle Bush. Kevin Harvick started the race in seventh place and would finish in fourth spot.

In NCAA Baseball, the No. 2 Florida Gators swept the William & Mary Tribe over the weekend. The Gators record is 3-0 and they are in first place in the South Eastern Conference East Division to start the season.

As for NCAA Basketball, the No. 13 Florida Gators beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs 57-52 in a close game. The Gators are tied for first place in the South Eastern Conference.

In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks lost to the Vancouver Stealth 14-10 in a tight game. The Roughnecks record is 3-4 and they are in last place in the West Division.

The Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League lost both of their games on the weekend, losing to the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-2 and then dropping a 3-0 decision to the Moose Jaw Warriors 3-0. It was also announced the Pats will host the 100th MasterCard Memorial Cup next year.

In the Ontario Hockey League, the Windsor Spitfires lost to the Guelph Storm 3-1 in a one-sided game. The Spitfires are in fifth place in the Western Conference and they have clinched a playoff spot.

The Ontario Reign split their American Hockey League games on the weekend. The Reign beat the Tucson Road Runners 4-1, and then they lost to the San Jose Barracuda 2-0. The Reign are in fourth place in the Western Conference.
