In short, they are a crucial and integral part of the ongoing life of the community, and no community can get along with the input and involvement of the local businesses.

The local business community is a truly crucial part of any community, and Weyburn's business community is no exception, as they are mindful of the local needs and causes of the community not to mention many are also active in many different ways, whether as members of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, or being involved whenever a major campaign is underway.

Whenever there is a major need, such as with the United Way's annual Communithon fundraiser, or a local family has a need, or an organization like the Young Fellows, Kinsmen or Rotary, or The Family Place, come to the residents of the city with a need, local businesses are often at the forefront of those who step up and help out with everything from volunteers to donations or sponsorships, to even providing a location or logistics for a fundraiser. An example is the annual Festival of Trees held by the Family Place, with the location and many of the bids all coming from local businesses who freely support the programs and needs of the Family Place.

More than that, the local businesses are an important part of the community life, in that business owners and their employees are part of city council, and organizations like service clubs and the Chamber of Commerce, they pay taxes and they have input on issues when they come up for discussion or a need for input at council or at the Chamber of Commerce on an issue affecting the business community.

In turn, the residents of the community need to realize the level of support and input they get from local businesses, and need to be there to support those local businesses, whether patronizing them and shopping locally, or responding to the need for employees or supporting them in a cause or charity fundraiser. There are many ways to support the local business community, including through the Chamber of Commerce on business issues, because that is how the local community is strengthened and grows.
