May the 4th be with you

May the 4th is around the corner. A day when all of Star Wars fandom unites to celebrate. Star Wars has broad appeal and my family love all things Jedi so participate indeed we will.

May the 4th is around the corner. A day when all of Star Wars fandom unites to celebrate.

Star Wars has broad appeal and my family love all things Jedi so participate indeed we will. Use a few of these ideas to throw your own Star Wars themed day or party.

Escape the Death Star: Create an obstacle course on the yard the requires participants to race through it as they escape the Death Star. Think hoola hoops to jump through, chairs to crawl under, planks to balance across and hurdles to jump. To make it even more fun, blast the soundtrack from the movie while you run it.

Mini Lightsabers: Set up a station for people to create their own mini lightsabers out of glow sticks. Just wrap a little silver duct tape around the base of the glow stick and then draw on buttons with a permanent marker. Snap your stick to get it glowing and you have a lightsaber.

Astroid Hunt: Scrunch up balls of tin foil and hide them around the yard for little Jedis to find and collect. You can go even further and have them act like Rey and trade in what they’ve found for a treat or two.

BB8 Assembly: Take a dozen oranges and lay them out on a table. Give each player 60 seconds to try and make 6 BB8’s (one orange balanced on top of another).

Ewok Rescue: A cute idea from Children’s Ministry Deals is an Ewok Rescue. Gather a pile of 12 stuffed bears (to be the most authentic but any stuffed animal will work). Place a laundry basket 10 feet behind the pile. Have the player throw the “Ewoks” over their shoulder and try to land it in the Millennium Falcon (laundry basket) to save them. They must get six Ewoks in the basket in 60 seconds.

Lastly - make up some Star Wars snacks! Leia Buns, Wookie Cookies, Yoda Soda, grape skewer lightsabers, Ewok gummy bears, and Jedi Juice – the possibilities are literally endless.
