The New England Patriots hammered the New York Jets 41-3 in a one-sided game just before Christmas. The Pats were in control of the game from start to finish. The only points that the Patriots gave up was a Jets’ field goal. Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady attempted 27 passes while completing 17 for 214 yards and three touchdowns. The Pats’ record is 13-2 and they will close out the regular season against the Miami Dolphins.
Other scores from week 16 were: the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 33-10, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 38-25, the Houston Texans edged the Cincinnati Bengals 12-10, and the Arizona Cardinals got past the Seattle Seahawks 34-31.
In the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers got past the Golden State Warriors 109-108 in a close game on Christmas Day. The Cavs’ record is 23-6 and they are in first place in the Eastern Conference.
Other scores from Christmas Day were: the Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks 119-114, the Los Angeles Lakers edged the Los Angeles Clippers 111-102, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Chicago Bulls 119-100, and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Minnesota Timber Wolves 112-100.
A couple of NCAA football bowl game scores were New Mexico Lobos beat the Texas-San Antonio Road Runners 23-20 in the New Mexico Bowl and the San Diego Aztecs beat the Houston Cougars 34-10 in the Las Vegas Bowl.
In NCAA basketball, the No. 25 Florida Gators hammered the Little Rock Trojans 94-71 in a one-sided game. The Gators’ record is 9-3 and they are in fifth place in the South Eastern Conference.
In Spangler Cup action, Team Canada lost 7-4 to HK Dinamo Minsk in their first game of the tournament.
