Patriots win Super Bowl 51

The New England Patriots came from behind to win Super Bowl 51 34-28 in overtime over the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter.

The Patriots would get on the scoreboard with a field goal to make the score 21-3 at the half. The Patriots started the comeback in the second half. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady attempted 62 passes, completing 43 for 466 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.  He was subsequently named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

In NCAA Basketball, the No. 17 Florida Gators beat the Kentucky Wildcats 86-66 in a one-sided game. The Gators are in second place in the South Eastern Conference.
In NBA action, the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Boston Celtics 107-102 in a close contest. The Clippers are in fifth place in the Western Conference.
In the National Lacrosse League, the Calgary Roughnecks lost to the Saskatchewan Rush 15-11. The Roughnecks record is 3-2 and their next game is against the Toronto Rock.
The Ottawa Senators were shut out 4-0 by the Buffalo Sabers in NHL record. The Senators remain in second place in the Atlantic Division.
In the American Hockey League, the Ontario Reign lost both of their weekend games against the San Diego Gulls. The Reign sit in third spot in the Western Conference.
In the Ontario Hockey League, the Windsor Spitfires split their weekend games, beating the Kitchener Rangers 6-2, then they lost to the Owen Sound Attack 4-1. The Spitfires are in fourth place in the Western Conference.

The Regina Pats won both of their Western Hockey League games over the weekend. The Pats are in first place in the Eastern Conference.
