The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 17-10 in the Banjo Bowl. The Riders were guilty of too many penalties that, in the end, cost them the game. Wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt had six receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown which puts him third in the CFL’s receiving stats. The Riders record 1-10 and their next game is against the Edmonton Eskimos.
Other scores from Week 12 were: the Toronto Argonauts beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-21, the Calgary Stampeders got past the Edmonton Eskimos 34-28, and the B.C Lions defeated the Montreal Alouettes 38-27.
In NCAA Football, the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles hammered the Charleston Southern University Buccaneers 52-8 in a lopsided game. The ‘Noles record is 2-0 and their next game is against the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals.
Other scores from Week 2 were: the No. 23 Florida Gators beat the Kentucky Wildcats 45-7, the No. 22 Oregon Ducks beat the Virginia Cavaliers 44-26 and the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes hammered the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 48-3.
In NCAA Division 1AA Football, the North Dakota State Bison beat the Eastern Washington Eagles 50-44 in overtime. The Bison’s record is 2-0 and their next game is against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
In the NFL, the New England Patriots got past the Arizona Cardinals 23-21 in a close game in the Patriots’ season opener. New England won even though Tom Brady is currently suspended. The Patriots’ next game is against the Miami Dolphins.
Other scores from Week 1 were: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got past the Atlanta Falcons 31-24, the Minnesota Vikings beat the Tennessee Titans 25-16, and the Seattle Seahawks edged the Miami Dolphins 12-10.
