The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost to the Montreal Alouettes 19-14 on a rainy day. The Riders didn’t play very well, offensively or defensively, through three quarters. The Riders came alive in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as they stalled on the seven-yard line. Riders quarterback Darian Durant attempted 37 passes while completing 25 for 208 yards. The Riders record is 5-10 and they will play their final home game at Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field against the B.C. Lions on Oct. 29.
Other scores from Week 18 were: the Hamilton Tiger-Cats over the Ottawa Redblacks 39-36 in overtime, the Calgary Stampeders beat the Toronto Argonauts 31-13, and the Lions got past the Edmonton Eskimos 32-25.
In NCAA Football, the No. 16 Oklahoma Sooners beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders 66-59. The Sooners record is 5-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Other scores from Week 8 were: the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines hammered the Illinois Fighting Illini 41-8, the No. 4 Washington Huskies beat the Oregon State Beavers 41-17, and the No. 24 Penn State Nittany Lions upset the No.6 Ohio State Buckeyes 24-21.
In NCAA Division 1AA Football, the North Dakota State Bison beat the Western Illinois Leathernecks 21-13 in a one-sided game. The Bison’s record is 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
In the NFL, the New England Patriots beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-16 in a lopsided game. The Pats record is 6-1 and their next game is against the Buffalo Bills.
