The Progressive Conservatives made recommendations for children returning to class in 2020

The Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan has put together a plan for a safe return to classes in the fall of 2020 for public school students and staff.

Their plan will ensure safe distancing and the means to detect any COVID-19, while minimizing risk to staff and other students.
“We are looking at a split classroom approach to returning to school,” stated Ken Grey, leader of the Progressive Conservatives.

“We are recommending to have the student population split into two groups. Half would be in classroom which allows for proper distancing and the other would be provided resources for home. The groups would rotate two weeks at home and two weeks in class. This is also the fourteen days that any COVID-19 symptoms would present, so this would provide a window for detection.” Grey said.

“Once COVID-19 no longer presents any risk, we would then move to bring all students back full time. We feel this is a balance between risk and returning. Hopefully, the rotating group structure will only be required for a short time to ensure the safe return to classes.”
