You know how schools always have a spirit week at least once a year where every day there is a different theme? I think it’d be fun to have a family spirit or theme week.
Rather than just one family night to look forward to, your clan can look forward to a whole week of simple activities.
Movie Monday: Mondays can be notoriously hard, so why not move movie night up in the week and go for it on Monday. Make a pizza, pick a family movie and start the flick over supper so you can squeeze it in before everyone’s school/work week bedtimes.
Take a Trip Tuesday: You don’t have to go far but take a little trip. Head to a park in another area of town (or even in a neighbouring town), go for a long bike ride, or check out a tourist destination in your city.
Book Worm Wednesday: Plan a family trip to the library to find books for all ages. Browse the aisles, read a few short stories in the library hangout area, check out the free programs offered, and then choose a novel for your family to read aloud together over the next few weeks.
Take Out Thursday: You’ve been cooking for days already… why not order take out. That in itself might not seem super fun, so to up the excitement for this day you could do something daring like let everybody order from whatever restaurant they want, even if they’re all different. Make the drive to pick up all your orders part of your family time.
Fitness Friday: Take some time to get out and be active together. Go for a family run or bike ride, go play Frisbee golf, head to the Estevan Leisure Centre for a swim, or go for a walk around the track. Whatever it is, try to work up a sweat and try new things to enjoy as a family.
These are just ideas and you can absolutely flex them as a family. Have a little planning meeting and let everyone have input on your family theme week.
