Wine and paint night

Wine and paint nights are all the rage lately. A venue will host the event and hire an instructor to teach and lead a group through painting a full canvas of a similar scene, while the group gets to paint, socialize and partake in wine and snacks.

The idea of showing up somewhere and having everything laid out ready to go and planned for you is very appealing to me.

With just a little bit of planning though you could throw your own wine and paint date night or girls night, or guys night.

First up, you need to find an instructional video, unless of course you are an artist that feels comfortable leading a group through a painting, so that you can work through. YouTube has a plethora of options.

As the host you’ll need to screen the video for a few things. First off, make sure that it is quality video with easy to understand instruction. Next you’ll have to pay attention to the supplies needed for the project. Make a list of paint colours, size of canvas, types of brushes and any other materials you might need.

Your local dollar store should have a pretty decent selection of materials to grab at a low price. If you’re doing a group thing rather than a date night, you might want to collect a few dollars for materials.

Set up a portable table in front of your T.V. (or a T.V. in your kitchen) and set out all the painting materials. Make your selection of wine or sparkling cider along with some appetizers or dessert.

Once you’ve grabbed some snacks go ahead and get started on your painting. The nice thing about a YouTube video is that you are able to pause it anytime anybody needs to catch up or rewind if you need to go back over something.

Take breaks for snacking and socializing whenever needed and enjoy your finished artwork at the end. This date may take a little set up and organizing but it will be fun and a great creative outlet.
