Last night out on my adventure I witnessed something that I was not overly happy to see.

I looked in my rearview mirror and noticed that there was a truck gaining some major speed with its lights on. Naturally, as taught in Drivers Ed at school, I slowed down and pulled to the right and as the vehicle passed me I noticed following behind it was another vehicle with its four-way flashers on so I continued to stay to the right and stopped to let them pass.

The thing that disturbed me the most was that the vehicles in front of me stopped for the vehicle with its lights and sirens on, but would not stop for the truck following behind it with it's four-ways on.

I was in complete disbelief when I watched as this truck weaved in and out of traffic all because people thought he was not that important and they should not move and get out of the way. So you mean to tell me that a vehicle with its four-ways on is not as important as a vehicle with sirens and flashing lights?

Newsflash people, the men and women of the fire department did have bubble lights! And now they are told that they can no longer use them and they have to obey the law just like everyone else. Well, in my opinion, when there is an emergency like there was last night, I noticed first hand that there are people in this town that think that just because that man or women on the fire department don't have sirens or flashing lights that they aren't as important as an ambulance or the deputy or fire chief.

I don't appreciate it when I get honked at because I follow the law when it comes to emergency response vehicles I mean have some respect people. For the amount of time it takes you to slow down and move to the right, those emergency response personnel are one step closer to saving a life, a life of a loved one that could be someone you know, could be your loved one. All it takes is a second to move over and let that person pass you, whether they have sirens, flashing lights, or even their four-ways on!

So please people have some respect for our emergency response personnel, it should not matter if it's a ambulance, a fire truck, or a vehicle with its four-ways on trying to make it to the fire hall to save a life, a life that could be someone's loved one, a life that could be your loved one.
