For those of you, my readers, who are not acquainted with the Upper Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, we live in a relatively small but isolated community.

Frustrated with all the bad news lately, I loaded my kayak and headed to the Souris River to find some peace and quiet. On the way, a deer ran out in front of my truck. Knowing there was likely more than one, I stopped, backed up, and waited.
