WEYBURN – It was an action-packed day Monday at the Souris Valley Industries Show and Sale Arena, as the Weyburn Agricultural Society hosted its annual Interclub 4-H Fed Calf Show, showcasing some of the region’s best livestock exhibitors.
Champions were named in several competitive categories. Rylan Fladeland from the Radville 4-H Beef Club took home top honours with Grand Champion Fed Calf. Not far behind was Brayden Fladeland also from Radville 4-H Beef Club, whose entry earned Reserve Grand Champion Fed Calf and Champion Homegrown Fed Calf.
In the Cloverbud division, Gideon Gustafson from the Cymri 4-H Beef Club, claimed the title of Champion Cloverbud Fed Calf, while Sage Davidson of the Weyburn 4-H Beef Club was awarded Reserve Champion.
The Interclub 4-H Market Lamb show saw Cole Gordon of the Weyburn Sheep 4-H Club named Grand Champion Market Lamb. Reserve Champion Market Lamb with Jack Wright also of the Weyburn 4-H Sheep Club receiving Reserve Champion Market Lamb.
In the Jackpot shows, the winner of the market lamb show was Grady Gutzke. The champion Heifer calf was exhibited by Payton Caldwell, and the champion bull calf was exhibited by Ryder Fellner. The Champion Breeding Heifer was exhibited by Lexi O’Connor. The Champion Jackpot steer was exhibited by Mason Thackeray. The champion pen of commercial heifers was exhibited by Ryder Fellner.
Wednesday’s action begins with the Interclub 4-H Beef Female show at 8 a.m. in the Souris Valley Industries Show and Sale Arena. At 1:30 p.m. will be the awards presentations for all the winners of this year’s show, including the presentation of this year’s Breeder’s Herd Winner.
At 2:30 the 4-H Livestock Sale will begin. This year there will be 131 fed calves on offer as well as 21 market lambs.
