WEYBURN – An apparel and beauty product home-based business operated by Joy Jucatan was given the green light by Weyburn City Council during its regular meeting on Aug. 11.
Jucatan’s application was considered controversial use as the business, at 19 – 9 Street, involves clients coming to the home throughout the day. The hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday.
In her report to council, Shara-Lee Malcolm, planning and development coordinator for the city said notices were mailed to all neighbours within 50 metres of the applicant’s home on June 23 and no concerns or objections were received.
The application was approved with conditions that no one other than a resident of the home shall be involved in the home-based business as an employer or volunteer. In addition, no ads that have the address of the home where the home-based business is, are allowed to be placed in any media. The face of the home-based business sign on-site can’t exceed 0.092 m2 and must be placed within the inside half of the front yard setback.
The permit is only valid for the address provided and isn’t transferable to another address. Reapplication would be required if the business moves locations.
Clients must park in the applicant’s driveway.
