City of Weyburn closes outdoor pool due to air quality

Environment Canada issued a special air quality statement for much of eastern Saskatchewan due to the wildfire smoke.

According to the City of Weyburn’s policy, if the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) remains above level 10 for more than 30 minutes, the outdoor pool must close.

WEYBURN – Effective immediately, the outdoor pool in Weyburn is closed until further notice due to poor air quality.

According to the City of Weyburn’s policy, if the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) remains above level 10 for more than 30 minutes, the outdoor pool must close. It will remain closed until the AQHI drops to 10 or below for at least 30 consecutive minutes.

Environment Canada issued a special air quality statement for much of eastern Saskatchewan due to the wildfire smoke affecting the province. According to the advisory, smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. 

The city will send out a notification once the pool is safe to reopen.
