Weyburn Police Service have busy week responding to 78 calls

The Weyburn Police Service responded to 78 calls for service over the past week between April 28 to May 4, resulting in a total of 9 charges.

The Weyburn Police Service responded to 78 calls for service over the past week between April 28 to May 4, resulting in a total of 9 charges. Of the charges, five were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, three under the Traffic Safety Act, and one under the City of Weyburn bylaw.

On April 28, in the early morning hours a business owner located a male dressed in all black on the business property who ran away. Police were notified and attempted to locate the individual through patrols and using the Weyburn Police Service drone. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful, however, police wanted to use this circumstance to advise the public to contact police if they see any type of suspicious behaviour.  

Also, on April 28 police received a report of a stolen 2017 Suzuki 750 CC Quad that is red in colour. The quad was stolen from behind a business on 12th St. The investigation is still ongoing with police following up on incoming information.  

Throughout the week Weyburn Police members attended to the Family Place to interact with the children.  Police showed off the Police vehicles and read the kids several books, along with answering any questions they had about policing.  

On April 30 police received a report of an intoxicated individual on the south side of the city. Police located the individual who was extremely intoxicated and in possession of open alcohol.  The individual was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and held in custody until sober.  

On May 1 police received a call for service involving an aggressive dog who was off leash.  Through investigation and further information received the dog owner was charged under the City of Weyburn By-law for allowing a dog to run at large.  

On May 2 an E-Bike was stolen from an apartment complex on 13th St. The investigation has led to a potential suspect being identified, however, the bike has not been recovered. Charges are pending in this matter.
