St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church celebrates Corpus Christi

About 100 members form procession June 2.

MOOSE JAW — The congregation of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church celebrated the Solemnity of the most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ Sunday, June 2.

The service is more commonly referred to as Corpus Christi. The feast of Corpus Christi was established earlier in church history, to create a special event focused solely on the Holy Eucharist, emphasizing the joy of the Eucharist being the body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.

The celebration followed the 9 a.m. worship, with a procession starting from the church, along the streets around St. Joseph’s, honouring the spiritual presents of the body and blood of Jesus in the communion bread and wine.

The event included about 100 members of the congregation with prayers and songs of praise along the route and concluded back at St. Joseph’s Church with benediction and a final blessing.
