REGINA -- The Saskatchewan Roughriders are already a little more banged up on the offensive line than they would like entering the 2025 Canadian Football League season.
The team’s weekly injury report released on Tuesday revealed OL Jacob Brammer was listed as questionable with a back injury, and the depth chart for Thursday’s contest against the Ottawa Redblacks confirmed he had been placed on the one-game injured list and will be unavailable.
As a result, rookie Payton Collins will get the start at left tackle and will line up alongside left guard Trevon Tate, centre Logan Ferland, right guard Zack Fry and right tackle Jermarcus Hardrick. Daniel Johnson is listed as the lone offensive line back-up behind Fry.
The o-line has been hit hard by injuries through training camp, with Sean McEwen (knee) and Phillipe Gagnon (bicep) on the six game injured list, while Braydon Noll (head) joins Brammer on the one-game list.
The question as to who would start at punter has been solved, with Joe Couch getting the opening-game nod.
Trevor Harris gets the expected start at quarterback, with Jake Maier and Tommy Stevens backing him up. Jack Coan has been moved to the one-game injury list.
The Roughriders and Redblacks hit the field Thursday night at Mosaic Stadium. Catch the pre-game show with Teagan Witko, Justin Dunk and Wes Cates at 4 p.m. while Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder have the game call at 7 p.m. You can hear everything on the 620 CKRM Co-operators Rider Broadcast Network.
