The Regina Red Sox Report is brought to you by Unifor 594, energy workers putting the care in career since 1942.

The Regina Red Sox are riding a six-game win streak heading into this week – the last of which, a big win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express, evened up the rivals' season series with two wins apiece.

Yesterday afternoon at Currie Field, special guests, such as Sportsnet’s Jamie Campbell, along with players and staff from the Saskatchewan Roughriders, were present.

The team's lone home game of the week was scheduled for tonight but had to be cancelled due to rain.

Looking ahead to the WCBL All-Star Game this Saturday in Okotoks, Regina will be well-represented. Pitchers Blake Johnson and Kai Langford, hometown catcher Brady Bye, center fielder Ian Montz, and shortstop Matthew Fox have all earned spots on the All-Star roster.

There’s also been a bit of roster movement. Team President Gary Brotzel shared some updates:

“We’ve recruited some outstanding players, and unfortunately other teams are after ‘em, but Jackson Syring left and he’s going to pursue some independent pro baseball, Jacob Steele is likely leaving Friday, he’s going to go in the major league draft, so tip of the cap to him, I mean that’s a great accomplishment and we wish him all the best. Jalen Seward had to go home and have some wrist surgery before school started, so a couple of unfortunate events there, but we’re prepared for it.”

The club remains in third place in the East Division, behind the Medicine Hat Mavericks and the league-leading Saskatoon Berries.

That's your Red Sox report for Unifor 594.
