Saskatchewan Roughrider hopefuls will have one week to make their mark and earn a roster spot as the training camp winds down in Regina this week.
Defensive back Jaxon Ford put his best foot forward on Saturday in the Riders' pre-season game in Winnipeg, recording four tackles and a tackle for loss out of his safety position. Ford says his success comes from being prepared heading into camp.
“Coming to camp healthy this year compared to last year, right with my hand. The game slowed down a bit for me, and getting those repetitions right day in day out. It's like day 18 of camp, so I feel pretty comfortable back there.”
Ford has also displayed his leadership abilities throughout training camp.
“This is my third year, so I'm really trying to take that step and guide some of the younger guys and help them adapt to the CFL, especially some of the American guys coming in. They don't have a whole lot of experience with the waggles and stuff, so yeah, just kind of being a leader on and off the field too.
