REGINA -- It took a little longer than anyone would have liked, but Samuel Emilus is officially back on the roster for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The former 1,000-yard receiver returns at slotback for Week 7 against the B.C. Lions in Vancouver on Saturday evening, having recovered from a foot injury that caused him to miss the previous three games.
Joining Emilus in making his return on offence from injury is Tommy Nield, who has recovered from an ankle injury and will back up at slotback.
The Riders defence also receives reinforcements, with defensive back Tevaughn Campbell returning after recovering from a groin injury and missing last week’s game against Calgary, while defensive lineman Caleb Sanders comes off the one-game injured and is slated to back up Micah Johnson at defensive tackle.
Offensive lineman Darius Washington comes off the practice roster and slots in at left tackle, while Drae McRae is in off the PR and is expected to be the primary kick returner.
The latter two additions to the line-up come at the expense of injuries, with none bigger this week than returner Mario Alford.
After leading the league in combined yards heading into Week 6, Alford officially moves to the one-game injured with a hip injury. He’s joined there by offensive lineman Daniel Johnson, who suffered a shoulder injury against Calgary.
Receiver Mitchell Picton and defensive lineman Aaron Patrick also move to the one-game injured list.
Defensive back Antoine Brooks Jr. and receiver D’Sean Mimbs both join the practice roster.
Game time for Saturday’s contest at B.C. Place is 5 p.m. Teagan Witko, Justin Dunk and Wes Cates have the pre-game show at 2 p.m. Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder have the game call at 5 p.m. You can hear everything on the 620 CKRM Co-operators Rider Broadcast Network.
