The Melfort Mustangs rebounded on Saturday afternoon to improve to 1-1 at the 2025 Centennial Cup in Calgary, Alberta.
Zac Somers led the way for the SJHL champions with a Hat-Trick including the game winner with 1:44 left in regulation time.
Ashton Paul opened the scoring for the Mustangs early in the first and then Danton Cox iced the game into the empty net in the final seconds.
Emile Fournier, Noah Breau and Jeremy D’Astous replied for the Blizzard whose record dropped to 0-1-1 at the event.
Mustangs netminder Kristian Coombs made 24 saves on 27 shots and they’ll return to action on Tuesday afternoon at Noon against the Rockland Nationals.
