Though Encompass Fitness Studio brings health to everyone in the community, they cater to a few demographics in particular. Empty nesters, who now have time to focus on health and wellness after their kids have flown the coop; young professionals, who want to get a head-start on their fitness before they settle down, and training services for retired professionals who want to stay healthy and strong well into their later years. Regardless of the age group, Encompass Fitness Studio provides the space and support to their clients so they can enjoy the time that they worked so hard to earn, doing the activities they love.

Before opening Encompass, owner Brady Johnson worked at a physiotherapy clinic where she noticed that clients in their forties, all the way into their later years, were suffering with aches and pains. Intimidated by and uncomfortable in the gym atmosphere, these individuals had nowhere to go to become healthier. Ultimately, they also lacked the motivation to consistently exercise at home. Brady said she hated the thought of not being able to help when the solution was as simple as some expert guidance and a supportive community who shared the same desires: to be healthy and live their aging years with energy and enjoyment.

“So many people are so hesitant to start something because they are afraid of failing, or are intimidated. Starting is always the hardest part, but with the right environment and support, it can become incredibly easy and even enjoyable,” Johnson said. And for those who are needing some extra encouragement or the tools to do so, Encompass has everything they need.

“I called it Encompass Fitness because I truly wanted it to be an all-encompassing atmosphere. I wanted others to have a space where they felt comfortable and supported to reach a healthier lifestyle, and were empowered and encouraged every step of the way, never feeling judged or like they were unable to succeed,” Brady explained.

The signature ‘CO’ in the Encompass logo stands for Community Outreach, representing both the way Encompass builds community within their studio, and contributes to the local community. Brady and her team have helped others lose over 2200 pounds, and are passionate about providing healthier options for the community. Encompass works with local restaurants such as The Flats’, Eddie Webster’s, the Woodlawn Golf Course, and Sobey’s grocery store to offer healthy options. They also offer free ‘lunch and learn’ presentations to local businesses and community groups to teach others how they can live healthier. It’s never too late to live a healthier, happier life, and it can be as simple as just a few small changes.
