Golfers at Deer Park Municipal Golf Course will see a slight fee increase this year. Three years ago Yorkton City Council approved a business plan for the golf course in an effort to operate the course on break even basis by the end of 2011. The plan outlined a seven per cent average increase for the current year.
The Deer Park Sub Committee reviewed the plan and recommended a more modest increase for 2011 in keeping with budgeted expenses and which are more competitive. The committee's recommendation include:
A freeze on new junior season pass to encourage new juniors to join the club.
A three per cent increase in both junior and student season passes.
A range of four to five per cent increases in all other season passes, keeping the adult season pass under $1,000.
A decrease in the family season pass to encourage families to golf.
An $2 increase in the adult nine hole fee from $23 to $25, an 8.7 per cent increase.
A range of five to six per cent in promotional and tournament categories.
A freeze on trail and storage fees.
Both the committee and city feel the revised fee structure fits into the original business and marketing plan developed in 2008.
